Event 22 - 24 February 2018

President's Welcome

On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is with great pride that I invite you to our 153rd Midwinter Meeting. I would like to thank General Chair Mike Biasiello, Program Chair Don Kipper and Director of Scientific Programs Ted Borris for their unselfish help and passion in putting together the 2018 Midwinter Meeting program. We have worked closely together to bring many new speakers, and blend them with the tried and true. During the three days of the meeting, you will have the opportunity to participate in a professional meeting that has so much to offer.

We chose this year’s theme, A Dental Triad: Pride, Passion and Professionalism, as it is a reflection of the CDS members, volunteers and staff.

A triad is a group of closely related components that work together for the common good. Those involved with the Chicago Dental Society work together for one common goal: to fulfill our commitment to continuing education, which helps make dentistry better for our patients. We’re all proud that the Midwinter Meeting was again rated one of the top 150 trade shows in North America by the Trade Show News Network.

This year’s meeting will show you cutting edge procedures and supply newly gained knowledge to take back to your office.

Every aspect of dentistry is represented. Observe the Live Patient Demonstrations or attend full-day programs on esthetics, removable prosthodontics, implants, pharmacology, clinical photography, clinical pearls or oral pathology presented by our all-star line up of speakers.

There are so many great courses in our program it is hard to come up with highlights!

We have many courses for the whole team. For the first time, we are offering the OSAP Boot Camp to train staff to be infection control coordinators. We’re including doctor/assistant building lectures and workshops, and Ignite DA is presenting six, two-hour lectures on various aspects of dental assisting.
In the classroom, you can learn about advances in treatment, technique and product. On the exhibit floor, you can actually hold a product and work with it. The meeting offers a great opportunity to interact with your fellow colleagues to discuss patient treatment.

The Midwinter Meeting is not all continuing education and aisles of exhibits. We hope you’ll join our special events, too.

The Opening Session. After the classes and exhibits on Thursday come to a close, relax and unwind with the humor of Pat McGann, a native Chicagoan, standup comedian and television and national radio host.

Friday at Noon join us for Cooking with Sister Alicia. She is a Food Channel’s Chopped Champion, and a mainstay at Our Lady of the Angels Mission. Join Sister Alicia as she makes you smile while preparing dishes that McCormick Place chefs will prepare and serve us for an enjoyable lunch using her recipes during the event.

Friday Night Event. Who doesn’t like Motown? This year at the Park West enjoy an outstanding tribute to Motown presented by the Shadows of the 60s. You’ll be dancing while standing in the “Shadows of Fun” that night!

Saturday Night Dinner Dance. Finally, I ask that you honor us with your presence Saturday night at the President’s Dinner Dance. Celebrate with your colleagues at the Hyatt Regency Chicago hotel and dance to the music of the High Society Orchestra.

The 2018 Midwinter Meeting will be great, but it will be made even better with you there. My wife, Rosemary, and I, as well as the entire CDS family, hope that you will attend the 153rd Midwinter Meeting – A Dental Triad: Pride, Passion and Professionalism.
